Not a great one tonight either.

    Press:

    70 x 5/5/5/5/5

Quite hard but got them all.

    Deadlifts:

    180 x 0

Not sure what's happening with my deadlift. Didn't squat first so should have still been fresh...

    Then home.

    Decent session tonight.

    Squats:

    150 x 6/6/6/6?
    130 x 6?

Thought I'd do some volume at a lighter weight. Overall felt not too bad. However, I noticed after the fifth set that someone had taken the 10s off of the bar! I'm like 99% certain it was between the fourth and fifth set. A bit annoyed.

    Incline dumbell bench press:

    32.5s x 8/8/8

Quite hard, but got them all.

    Then home.

    Somewhat disappointing tonight...

    Pause squats:

    140 x 3/3/3

Not too bad. Just wanted to get back to some pause squats, so wasn't sure where I was at. Overall quite a comfortable weight.

    Press:

    70 x 5/0
    60 x 5/6

Not happy with this. Was hoping for more, but just never had much upper body strength tonight.

    Some quick stretching then home.

Decent enough session tonight. Relatively quick.

    Deadlifts:

    170 x 5/5

Not too bad overall. Grip needs to get used to deadlifts again. Will probably have quite a bit of DOMS tomorrow as I haven't actually succeeded in doing these for a few weeks, plus did two sets.

    Barbell rows:

    90 x 6/6/6/6

    Not too bad.

    Then home.

Good enough session tonight. Not in for too long either.

    Squats:

    160 x 5/5/5

Some reps quite hard. Others okay.

    Bench press:

    95 x 5/5/5

Not too bad I was told.

    Then home.

    Average session this afternoon...

    Snatch grip deadlifts:

    120 x 5/5/5

These are murder on the hands. Also very awkward at the lockout position when the bar bashes the pubic bone. I've heard these are really good so I thought I'd give them a try.

    Chins:

    bodyweight x 5/3/3/3

    Hands destroyed...

    Some stretching then home.

Decent enough session tonight, and again quite quick.

    Pause squats:

    140 x 5/5

Quite hard. After the third rep, things become quite difficult with these.

    Press:

    70 x 5/5/5

Not too bad overall although the later reps of each set a bit more challenging.

    Then home.

Might be a good idea to buy some zinc oxide tape (if you aren't already using it) for the snatch grip deads, especially if you use a hookgrip. The wider your grip the worse it is on your hands, from what I've tried anyway

The stuff you always see over weightlifter's hands, usually to prevent torn callouses from tearing up further. Some people use it over their thumbs too. Snatch pulls tend to rip the callous below your pinky or ring finger so if that happens you can at least finish the session

    Really bad session tonight.

    Deadlifts:

    175 x 1
    150 x 1

    Just wouldn't go up.

    Rows:

    90 x 1
    70 x 8/8/8

Not sure what happened tonight. It's like I wasn't switched on or something.

    Then home.

Tonight was terrible. Tried to squat, but just couldn't get the form anywhere close to right, so no point in bothering my knee and hips. Then did:

    Bench press:

    97.5 x 3/2/2

Not good at all; just never felt like I had much strength in me.

Did some foam rolling and lacrosse ball work, then home.

Actually had a good session tonight.

    Squats:

    150 x 5/5/5

Not too bad. Hopefully getting the form right.

    Press:

    72.5 x 3/3/3/3/3

    Again not too bad.

    Deadlifts:

    170 x 5

And again not too bad. Watched Alan Thrall's deadlift setup video using the Starting Strength method and realised I wasn't setting my back up properly, and bar probably wasn't being pulled from the correct position on the floor.

    Some foam rolling then home.

    Another good session tonight.

    Squats:

    152.5 x 5/5/5

    Felt good. Form felt better.

    Bench press:

    95 x 5/5/5

    Not too bad, really.

    Chins:

    bodyweight x 5/4/3

Going to look at doing some sort of actual programming for these, since they're not going anywhere.

Some lacrosse ball work then home.

    Decent enough session tonight.

    Squats:

    155 x 5/5/5

Form not quite as good as Wednesday, though not too bad overall, speed wise.

    Press:

    75 x 3/3/3/0

Weight felt quite a bit heavier than Monday, but got three triples at least.

    Deadlifts:

    175 x 5

    Not too bad.

    Then home.

    Decent enough session tonight.

    Squats:

    157.5 x 5/5/5

Not too bad overall but form going in the wrong direction. Bar sliding down my back somewhat, which makes each rep just slightly different from the last. Not sure if it starts from the outset or is confined to later reps.

    Bench press:

    97.5 x 5/5/5

    Quite hard.

    Chins:

    bodyweight x 3/3/3/3/0

Was going for as many triples as I could get in a given time-frame but only got four...

    Then home.

    Good session tonight.

    Squats:

    160 x 5/5/5

Form an improvement since Monday, I'd say, although not quite as good as last Wednesday.

    Press:

    70 x 3
    75 x 3/3/3/3/3

Not too bad. Accidentally forgot to add 2.5s on the first set so did a triple at 70.

    Deadlifts:

    180 x 5

Easier than I thought they would be, to be honest.

    Then home.

Decent enough session this afternoon. A quicker one.

    Squats:

    162.5 x 5/5/5

Not too bad overall. Form maybe same as last time.

    Incline dumbell bench press:

    32.5s x 7/6/5

Upper body not feeling that strong this afternoon.

    Then home.

    Generally a good session tonight.

    Squats:

    165 x 5/5/5

Same as last time, pretty much.

    Press:

    77.5 x 3/1/0

The nadir of the night. Just didn't have much pressing strength in me.

    Deadlifts:

    185 x 5

Same as last time, like the squats.

    Then home.
