Can I still get Merit with failed course?

Hello,

I just submitted my dissertation to UCL political sciences department, and I believe I did very well. Also, I got 60's and 70's in all my classes throughout the year, except in 1 class, where I got a condoled pass. However, would this one class disqualify me from getting a Merit? Although my overall score can get me a Merit.

Thank you!

This will be covered by the rule set specific to your course, it should be covered in the student handbook. No one on TSR will be able to second guess that without a copy to hand.

Will condonement be included in my classification?

Yes, all condoned and capped resit marks will be included in your classification calculation. However, in the past, postgraduate classifications were capped at a Pass if you had a condoned or capped resit mark in your profile. From 2017-18 onwards, you will be eligible for a Merit or Distinction classification even if you have any condoned and capped resit marks.
