If a guy called you 'cute' would you like it and be flattered or not really take it as a compliment?
The 'cutest girl on TSR' thread shows how it's often used as a compliment, but in the past I've heard girls say they don't like it, thinking it likens them to a kid or a fluffy bunny.
So do you like being called cute or do you prefer pretty/sexy/hot etc?
To be called anything nice is good enough for me, as it hardly ever happens!
I like any affectionate term, but I know mates of mine who can't stand it. Guess it depends on how much of an ego the girl has.
cute = ugly but adorable
at least that's what I've been told
I quite like it. "Absolutely stunning" comes a close second, as compliments go.
Prefer pretty/sexy/hot, but usually if I get a compliment I ain't complaining.
My ex's compliments were so cringeworthy - like he would call me 'princess' and stuff, and just overcompliment me wayyyy too much. He was just wayyyy too nice to the point where it was fake and creepy.
I guess if it's a normal compliment (something along the lines of cute/hot/sexy/pretty) and I can tell they actually mean it, it's all good.
Excellent choice there sir. In regards to the question you have posed, I think 'cute' isn't the most flattering term you could use as it sort of implies that you find their behaviour/appearance endearing. If I wanted to irritate a friend -male or female- I'd say 'ohhhh you're so cuute'. Also, it's a real Americanism, eg 'what a cute too' haha. Maybe stick to the more conventional language of flirtation as you're obviously a little bit uncomfortable about using it.
