How does Milner still get games for you guys?

Reply 586

Why does McManaman really over pronounce the ‘ing’ at the end of every word. It’s baffling.

Reply 587

Curtis Jones is an embarrassment.

Who doesn't enjoy a mid-table clash that finishes 0-0 and is low on quality..

2nd choice RB, 3rd choice LB, 6th choice CM.

Milner is stealing a living at this point, guys getting paid £120k just to turn up to work and give the odd “come on guys!” Speech.

We have no senior backup for RB other than Gomez who was starting at CB today so Milner always fills in for Trent.

The question is more so, why is he your backup RB.

Exactly, people aren’t asking why he is playing right now, they are really asking why is he even at the club to be allowed to play a game.

Jurgen Klopp's built this team over 8 years.

8 years.

Because net spend trophy (FSG) and Klopp being a bit too loyal to players.

TAW still bangs about Klopp being ruthless with players because he got rid of loads of dross in his first summer. There seems to be opinion expressed that counters this in that he hasn’t been ruthless with any players since then and just commits to dross far after it should’ve been bombed out.

It's easy to be ruthless with players you have only just start working with compared to players who have served you well for years and won you trophies. Imo, if Klopp had the funds to strengthen all positions of the squad rather than selected positions, think he would be a bit more ruthless but he seems content in working with what he has got. If Conte/Mourinho was at Liverpool, we would be seeing weekly rants towards the owners.

Arguably Klopp/the club were fairly ruthless in letting Gini Wijnaldum leave on a free and selling Sadio Mane to Bayern? In both cases, it would've been much easier to have given them new contracts (and fans would've been happy). Although Klopp did say he wanted to keep both so maybe it was just the club being ruthless.

Out of the current squad, who should've been bombed out? We've had a few like Origi who hadn't been sold (mostly because our valuations were never met) but Klopp was able to use them in the squad until they left. We'll see Ox and Keita leave this summer. Milner possibly goes too. Milner may have just been kept on for being a professional/leader but also because he's homegrown and was better to keep than have no one? I think we're around the 17 non-HG player limit (although we could move Adrian on).

But we're talking about fairly fringe players who wouldn't have sold for much (often due to injury problems) and much more spend to replace in the squad. Nevermind all the work needed to bring a new squad player up to scratch in terms of tactical understanding etc.
