Aren't there five matches left? I would not be so sure in that dread season Liverpool performed, apart from the injuries.

Only Brighton have 5 games left. Most have 3 games left, some with 4 games left.

We've won the last 6 games in the league in a row. Leicester and Southampton are terrible. We have a great record at Anfield for the Villa game.

I am still sceptical. In every other season I would agree with you, not in this.

I remember Liverpool lose 2-7 against Villa years ago... I think so.

It was 7-1 to Aston Villa in the 2020-2021 season.

Despite our injury crises at CB, we still managed to finish 3rd that season with a late run.

Would it be a difference, if the season ends up on the 3rd or 4th place for Liverpool? the team is qualified in any case for Champions League then.

We won't catch Newcastle in 3rd so it's a moot point.

The higher you finish in the league, it's just worth more money. I think it's an extra £2mil in merit payment from the league. You would also get an extra 10% of the money pool from the Champions League funds.

I have forgotten the revenues in TV broadcasting, good point. The actual distribution is another thing I regard critically, not only in Premier League, but that is a different chapter.

You probably need Newcastle or Manchester United to drop points tomorrow. I can see Newcastle dropping points to Leeds but Man United will beat Wolves.

There’s no guarantee that Liverpool will beat Leicester away from home to be fair on the Monday Night Football.

There's no guarantees that anything will happen. However, Leciester haven't kept a clean sheet since before the World Cup so I'm confident that this Liverpool side, which is in form, can score and win the game.

If Liverpool win their 3 games, Man Utd must win 3 out of their remaining 4 games.

I think Man Utd are still playing Lindelof and Shaw at CB. Also Rashford is a major doubt for the game. Wolves are terrible away from home but I have hope..

United will drop some points, don't be so sure about Newcastle.

The main point is still a run for Liverpool. If Liverpool just botch one match, 3rd place is hard to achieve.

I think we needed Man Utd to drop points yesterday to feel the pressure.

Newcastle with their massive goal difference only need a maximum of 5 points from their last 3 games - which should be easy for them.

Man Utd need 6 points from their last 3 games but they still have 2 home games so I think they will do it easily too.

RIP top 4 :frown:

Yeah and even then no room for slip ups from us anyway. Always unlikely but beat Leicester and the pressure is still on those 2. Newcastle hold the largest advantage of course, but I've seen other clubs who aren't used to being in these situations bottle it before (Leicester did a few years ago I remember). Let's see, but yeah 2/3 wins does it for them both now with favourable fixtures.

I'm fairly confident we'll win all 3. I guess we left it too late this season and had way too many poor results early on.

That said, last time we were rubbish and finished 3rd, we did manage it with 69 points.

How much would Mount, Mac Allister and Ugarte cost us to revamp the midfield?

I reckon about £200m.

Mount - £40-£60
Ugarte - £50-£60
MacAllister - £70-£90

Does make you wonder about spending £90mil on Mac Allister if Bellingham was going to be like £120mil.

That said, if they were all on the low end and we got them for £150mil then it would be super impressive..
