Yeah Matiphas been reliable when he has played but too many injuries and this just upsets the harmony of the defence ultimately. All the same, 8 years oon a free, not bad.

Quansah has looked quality so far but in a breakthrough season not sure if he's the right guy to be starting PL games too much. Maybe it's time for Gomez to put his hand up and say he's ready. He just hasn't been able to so far by looking too shaky, but he still is young (26) which is crazy as he has been around so long.

I dunno - with all the injuries, it perhaps meant we had a better 3rd CB at all times as they knew they would get game time. Sometimes when you have 2 immense CBs then 3rd/4th choice is hard to recruit for as they never get to play.

I think Klopp will be expecting Konate to step up. He lost the shirt to Matip when he got injured but he has been impressive for us in recent times. Gomez will probably play the cup games at CB and then sometimes cover Trent at RB?

Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez; Endo, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz.

Subs: Adrian, Pitaluga, Nunez, Jones, Elliott, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Quansah, Bradley

If Jones was sent off against Tottenham then the Sheffield United player has to be sent off for that.

Klopp says Matip ruptured his ACL. Likely to be out for the season.

City loss, United being the worst club in the country but only 3 points behind them :beard:

Not often you see Man City (especially under Pep) in this kind of form (WDDDL is their last 5 games). So that is only 3 points from their last 4 games..

I think for Man Utd you have to factor in that they are currently 4th in their CL group. We're talking about 6 league defeats, League Cup defeat in 4th round, and another 3 losses in the CL group stages (+ a draw). That's 10 losses across all competitions and we're not even at Xmas yet!

He and the players on the pith.

I saw Klopp go off on an interviewer when he was asking stupid questions (including about Klopp loving a 12.30pm kick off).

Hopefully we get a fast start..

Hodgson called the Palace fans "spoilt" last week so may be a hostile atmosphere at home for him.

City had a similarly bad spell in January last year where they broke records for a run of results they had. Let's see how they fare come March but would be foolish to rule them out like some did last season.

We were awful today but somehow came away with 3 points.

Really pleased we won Sheffield Utd and Crystal Palace away and picked up the 6 points. Top of the table somehow.

Victory is victory, who cares the play, as long as the result is correct. Possibly even 3 important points for later.

Well the play matters because a league season is a marathon, not a sprint.

Poor performances/play can indicate underlying problems that results gloss over.

We have a tough week (ignoring the LASK dead rubber) with Man Utd, West Ham (League Cup QF) and then Arsenal coming up.
