Aww it'll still be here. I'm just arriving back from a year in Italy. Can't wait!

as to the venue questions... loaded dog does get a bit crowded. Maybe meet up at uni and then walk to some where together? or maybe varsity as there is sometimes a good amout of space. we need somewhere easy for freshers to find (unlike yates and stuff)
In my experience, walking somewhere isn't good from a logistic point. People just want to get pished and stay in one place, then move when everyone wants to. I'll start a thread on it soon, but either TLD or Varsity would be good.

You'll like the Tigers mascot then! Despite being a feline, it's nice and cuddly!

See if you can raise anything here. They normally have a couple of spaces in Lasdun, so see what you can get with a bit of talking.

    Woooo, TSR meet-up!

Is anyone here in Mary Gee? I was a bit chagrined about it at first, but now I think it will be great. It's cheap as, for a start.

And how does it "work"? There are several blocks, right? How many? Do people from different blocks all socialise together?

there are erm, like erm 36 blocks? well 360 rooms rings a bell, 10 per block. 36 blocks :/ That seems like a lot. Actually i spose there is about 12 per square thingy and there are 3 of them kinda. Yeah lets just say 30ish :P

The Gee would of been so much better if they kept the pub, the common room is kinda shocking, but oh well, i enjoyed it and you do make the most of it. and the money saving is good.

Yes blocks tend to kinda group up, its, weird, my block grouped up with another block on the other side of Gee, and some other poeple from one or two other blocks tended to join us, there was like 10ish of us from about 5 different blocks that used to hang out together.

How much is it this year, £3000+ ?

If I recall correctly, it's about £2,400. Bargain or what? :p:

It had a pub? Oh well. I'm sure there are plenty of other places to be in Leicester!

Do you get a feeling of isolation there, seeing as you're not up in Oadby (where presumably, it's all happenin')?

yea it was about 2400 last year, i thought that it was going up by a grand atleast thats what i heard. Seriously people said it was going to be **** run down and grubby but really isnt that bad, even the worse rooms were still clean and livable. After a week or two your so glad you are paying less, than again my rents pay my rent so i didnt really gain anything, wish i got john fosters ensuite catered, actually know, no one likes JoFos.

Yeah because there use to be another halls across the road i think and there was a joint bar called the Rat bar or something, but the uni sold of both halls knocked the other one down and the bar and sold the Gee. (they were building across the road, had uni blue fencing but dunno if thats just a coincidence or if its new halls).

Anyway, last year accomodation ****** up royally, Mr admissions and Mr Accomodation, a couple, had an argument over dinner, and Mr Admissions let in more people than Mr Accomodation had rooms for jsut to spite him. So they had to rent back the Gee and revamp it quickly, so newish stuff, they also put a fair few people in travel inn or sometehing for the first week or two because there were so few rooms.

No you don't feel isolated at all, nothing much actually goes on in oadby, everything happens at campus or in town, so your not missing any social events really. The only thing i guess you do miss out on is the bus, if you have fond memories of the school bus than you might be more gutted than most, i was.

Your in walking distance to uni too, 15 mins, so its good way to balance out the alcohol calories.

But yeah don't sweat, you dont miss out on anything and you save **** loads of money. I know someone who was in JoFo and had to work just to pay his rent, bad times.
