Hi,
This is may be dependent on the university, so you may want to look on the individual courses websites. The university of Kent for example, offer both where you can initially apply for the course with the year abroad or just apply for the course without it and later decide if you would like to take a year abroad by applying after, in your second year. Whilst Kent do not actually offer geography by itself as a course, there is the option for the BSc (Hons) Human Geography which as has the option for a year with the professional practice if you prefer. https://www.kent.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/2532/human-geography

Hope this helps!

Thank you I’ll look into that! But does Kent offer semester abroad instead of year?

Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, they only offer a term abroad for international students wanting to come to Kent as a short term exchange program. A Year abroad just ensures you will gain the full experience and have to time to venture out in the country you choose to study in whereas I have heard that staying for a term can feel quite rushed. https://www.kent.ac.uk/go-abroad
If you would prefer a shorter time abroad, Kent do also offer a summer school at their partnered universities https://www.kent.ac.uk/go-abroad/summer-schools which may be in your interest as well.

Hello,

I think it can vary depending on what University you go to. At York St John you apply for the course and then in the first year of your Undergraduate Degree you will be given information on studying abroad.

Destinations can vary depending on the course but I believe our Geography Students have the opportunity to go and study in Canada as part of thier degree https://www.yorksj.ac.uk/international/study-abroad-and-exchange/

I have lot of friends who have studied in various places and have loved it. I am kind of sad I did not choose to do it now.

Hope you have an amazing time wherever you end up
