what were you predicted?

A* A A (A) in History, Biology, Chemistry and EPQ respectively. I was not a contextual and I am a home student, I think they're prioritising international students to make up lost revenue from prior years because I know quite a few people with similar grades who were also rejected.

Just received an unconditional offer for Politics, International Studies and Mandarin!

This is absolutely what's going on. £9,000 for home students and £18,480 for internationals; it's clear why they're doing it. It's just a huge shame for home students. I was also rejected with very similar grades to yours for the LLB.

Yeah, it's a shame because I loved the atmosphere in Warwick since it's a campus university. I think if I get extremely high grades I will take a gap year and reapply.

That’s absolutely bonkers. Hard facilitating subjects and fabulous predicteds (well done by the way with those) and still being rejected. That is very harsh and I have to Agee that no doubt Covid has played a role along with wanting the international fee. I hope you have offers from equally good unis to work towards.

Warwick ranked 9th in unis with most int students last year. There was talk of the government possibly putting caps on the number allowed, so perhaps unis are taking as many as possible this year before the cap is applied?

I've just saw a few offers from Warwick for M100 and, as per, they are internationals. I have only seen one home offer for the standard LLB this year. Honestly wondering what is going on 😭

Many of my friends have received an offer for the standard LLB and all home students. Do not feel disheartened! Hopefully we hear soon

I don't think this is possible i.e. the cap on international students. The universities will push back. Don't forget that there are many British citizens who live abroad and pay international fees even though they hold British passports.

As it is, the local fees are not enough to cover university cost, and universities are said to be losing £4K per local student by 2024. So in effect, international students subsidise local students. Unless the UK govt suddenly has money to provide education subsidies and still be able to cap fees at £9K, rapid rising cost is making it very challenging for universities to survive. In other words, if there is a cap on international students, both international fees and local fees will have to go up. It's just Math.

I wish Warwick had clarified during their open days that their University is mainly for international applicants as choice wasted for home students with really great grades and no offers . Wouldn't have applied .

It's a global/diversified university, as are many top universities in the UK. I don't believe that international students are assessed with a different lens. This would be discrimination. I don't know where to get the data but I also don't think Warwick positions itself as "mainly" for international applicants. I think locals are still the majority.

Yes of course you are correct in all of your points above, however something has to give. There will be a point where the government would need to step in if all of the places were given to international students if only a few places are made available to home students. Currently the percentage at Warwick is 31.5% which is probably due to its reputation. Top London unis may be up to 55% (UCL) or thereabouts, others 5 - 10%. So there are plenty places for international students in the UK but the top Unis are taking the majority and hence receiving the higher fees with which to invest to maintain thier reputations, which brings more applicants etc etc. So does this mean that home students are pushed down into their second choices or lower tier unis? Or that the government find more funding from somewhere so that home students can still go to UCL, Warwick etc? Perhaps a higher tax of some kind on int student fees paid to unis? I don't know the answer but it does seem getting in to top tier unis is becoming more difficult- regardless of some of the excellent grades that are reported on here, as int intake is increasing year on year. Seems a bit of a mess as the gov rules that students must return home after 4 years as well so we are not even getting the benefit of the excellent grads that are being produced.

Warwick is 31.5% at tge moment. Data is available from many sources and uni guides. London unis 55% for UCL for example (these are 20/21 numbers so will be a bit higher now)
