Does goosebumps have any function?

I've looked online trying to find if goosebumps (hair standing up on your skin) has any function online but I cant find anything about it, I know that when you're hot the hairs in your body lowers to conserve heat during heat loss but cant find any function about the hairs standing up, anyone know?

Hi, the opposite is also true when you’re cold the hairs stand up to trap a layer of insulating air. I think they’ve also got a role of making you look bigger. This obviously would be a more useful feature wayyyy back in time when we were hairier and had to fight to survive. Hairs stand on end to make you look more scary to opponents. Hope this helps
