    I have done my personal statement but it is 55 lines but only 3800 characters. Is this ok for UCAS.

    Your personal statement has to be 47 lines max. Have you used a lot of paragraphs because when I finished mine, I was 3 lines over and had to merge several paragraphs for it to fit.

    Well, the line count and character count on Word didn't seem to correspond with the one on UCAS.

    Best bet is to copy and paste it in, then make any required adjustments. Leaving a line between paragraphs is probably a very good idea though, makes it much easier for the admissions tutors to read.

    I had a similar problem before I submitted mine. I was about 30 characters in the character limit, but about 5 lines over. The last 3 paragraphs could be condensed into one and it was still properly structured. I did leave a line between paragraphs though.

    The line limit is so that the printout of your application fits on a certain number of pages/the personal statement fits on 1 page of a set font and font size. Which really, is understandable. I can imagine it would be annoying to be reading personal statements and having 2 lines of each PS on a separate page.
