Ok I've searched all morning now and I can't find what this piece of apparatus is called. Basically it ensures an even mixture so after reacting the chemicals in a test tube, you place it in this hole of this little machine and it vibrates to mix the chemicals up.
Anyone know the scientific name for it? Sorry my explanation is crappy =S
    Thanks in advance.

Vortex or whirl mixers most often, colloquially whirlimix, vibramixer, viber, "tube shaker", "shakey thing that hurts my wrist" lol

You'd be surprised what some of the scientists at work come out with! I once heard one ask where they keep the "long sharp pointy glass thing that I swear is going to go straight through my hand one day" in reference to a fine tipped glass pastette hehe. Funnily enough I knew what she meant, largely because I share the same apprehension about them
