Background music when studying - yes or no ?

Currently up for a little late-night study and I want opinions. Is it better to study with or without music? I'm the type to hit a wall when I'm in dead silence because it just makes me uncomfortable but when i put on some music I get too distracted and start belting lyrics instead. What other things are there to listen too that will fill the silence but not distract me too much?

I like to study in complete silence because any noise is too distracting for me. If you're distracted by lyrics then try classical music.
Do you just need something to fill silence? Try Rainy Mood: https://rainymood.com/

I liked to listen to Lord of the Lost's orchestral albums when I was in study. They have versions both with and without lyrics. Here's one song I really loved (no vocals):

I think it's really subjective, some people like silence, and some don't.
I personally just listen to the music I like while studying and it hasn't affected my grades to date but if you find yourself getting too distracted by lyrics, try listening to music without lyrics. As the above have pointed out, try listening to something relaxing like classical music.

OML rain sounds are actually elite, but i tend to use them to relax or sleep so i dont think it's too wise to use them while trying to be productive lmao. However i will definately check out that song!!
I like to listen to a piano instrumental play list - no distracting lyrics

I can work with music as in like note-taking and stuff, but if I want to assimilate information - silence.

Libraries are useful because the background click-clacking of keyboards helps you keep focus.
