    Ok, here's the story.

I'm currently studying Economics and Philosophy as part of a flexible combined honours programme and, generally speaking, I'm really enjoying it.

    But . . .

I want to switch to English and Philosophy in my second year because I've realised that literature is my true passion and I miss it alot. This is perfectly possible and quite common apparently. Also, it doesn't mean I have to do an extra year - I literally just do literature instead of economics in my second and third years.

The thing is, there is a particular maths module that I really, really hate and struggle with on the economics side. It's causing me a fair amount of stress and it's demotivating me in my studies generally. So here's my question:

Do you think they would let me drop that module and reselect an english or philosophy one for semester 2? It's not like I'm going to need the maths module or build on it - I won't be doing economics next year! I feel like I'm going through all of this stress for nothing and I resent it.

    What should I do?

I know it's pointing out the obvious, but just ask them.

I will. I just wanted to see if anyone else had been in the same situation. It's madness really and it's really playing on my mind.

    Thanks though.

Funny. I've just been contemplating swapping from Psychology to doing an English degree..
