I noticed there are no threads for Psychology applicants 2023, so here we go!
What universities did you apply for?
Which ones are your favourite?
My daughter applied for Southampton (offer), Royal Holloway (offer), Nottingham, Aberdeen and Exeter (nothing yet).
I’m also a Psychology teacher (IB) if you have questions about the subject 😊

Hello,
I hope you are doing well.
I am currently holding offer for Msc health psychology ( accredited by bps ) from Ljmu & Mmmu and also aston.
Beside this fact that I’m not sure which university should i pick, I’m also unsure about the course and it is because i am form iran and hopefully i will be there as an international student.
Im asking cause you’re working in the field.
I’m actually asking that if I study Msc health psychology, I will be able to work as an assistant or clinical psychologist?
There was no accredited course for clinical psychology for masters.
Overall, I really appreciate if anyone can give me some advice on how things will be after my masters in health psychology.
Thanks in advance for your help.

if anyone has an offer for psychology at edinburgh and you're not planning on making it your firm or insurance, withdraw so they have more places to offer people waiting!

Hi @gunjanmantri7!

If you're looking for a BA in just Psychology, Lancaster University offer it! The course itself is exactly the same as the BSc, and you get to pick at the beginning and at the end whether you want to graduate with the BA or the BSc. Here's the website if you want some more information: BA Psychology - Lancaster University

Hey everyone, I have received offers from Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle and Sheffield but I was rejected from Edinburgh which was my top choice. Due to this, I have to pick a new firm and insurance compared to the one I initially had planned, but I'm really not sure what to pick. I'm not sure what to put as my top choice, I'm torn between Leeds and Manchester and I really can't decide. If anyone has any advice/ info I would be very grateful to hear it, any advice is helpful and would be amazing! Thanks everyone, good luck to all of you still waiting to hear a response

Hello,
I have an offer from King's College London and University of Manchester for my Masters in Organisational Psychology.
KCL's Institute of Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience will be providing the course which means the focus is more on general mental health, whereas in UoM...the course is under Alliance Manchester Business School...which means there are more organisational/business concepts that would help me pursue a career in HR.

seems like employability rates are higher for UoM than KCL but again...would being in London help in any way?

Apart from that I wanted to know which city is better for networking and job opportunities? London or Manchester?
London is more expensive which is a factor i want to consider but I am also conflicted about whether the reputation of the uni matters or not?
As an International Student, I want to be at a university/city that wouldn't drain me out.

Kcl is ranked higher than UoM in Psychology but UoM's business school is much better the King's Business School.

Which uni would equip me better for getting a job later on? Would the brand name/reputation of KCL matter? Do recruiters consider that?

Is KCL the obvious choice or should I go ahead with UoM?

My daughter has offers for Newcastle, Manchester, Loughborough, Southampton and Reading. Struggling to decide whether to firm Newcastle or Loughborough!

Hi @aahughes76

It's great to hear your daughter is thinking about coming to Loughborough!

I would first have your daughter take a look at the course pages again for both Loughborough and Newcastle. If you go to the 'what I'll study' section on the Loughborough page she'll be able to see the modules she would be studying and see if anything interests her in particular. It's also worth noting that the course at Loughborough has an optional placement or study abroad year which may be of interest to your daughter.

The thing that helped me the most when deciding between my top two unis was going to visit them and attending offer holder days. These were a great opportunity to hear more about the course and also meet some of the academic staff who would be teaching me. I think the the best thing about them is the chance to speak to current students who are at the university and studying the course you want to study. Talking to students and hearing about student life is really what made my decision as that was what differentiated the unis for me. If you can't make it to an offer holder day I would still encourage your daughter to visit the unis as it's important to choose somewhere where she can see herself fitting in and being happy as she'll be living and studying there for the next 3+ years. If you click here you'll be able to see the options to visit Loughborough.

It's also worth taking a look at the accommodation for both of the unis to see what options are available. At Loughborough we have 16 halls of residence for undergraduates that cater to lots of different needs so I would suggest taking a look at those.

Finally I'd take a look at the extracurricular activities offered by the unis - perhaps there is an interest or a hobby that your daughter has and would like to continue it or would like to try something new. At Loughborough we have over 100 societies to choose from so there's plenty to get involved in. There's also lots of ways to get involved in sport, if she's interested, and there's something for every level of sport so she can make the most of the great sports facilities here.

I'm in my first year at Loughborough and I have to say the student experience has been even better than I thought. There's always lots to do on campus like going to the events put on by the Union, watching the Loughborough first teams play, getting involved in societies or getting involved in playing sport yourself. I've also been presented with some amazing opportunities for example this summer through the uni me and my friends are going on a road trip to Dubrovnik for charity which is something I never would have been able to do otherwise!

Loughborough is a small market town so can't offer what a city can but it's so easy to get to Leicester or Nottingham by bus or by train that if you want more of a city feel you can just go over there. Because Loughborough is a campus in a small town, I've found there's a great community feel that extends from the campus to the town and when you go out you always bump into someone you know which is really nice so it really does feel like a uni town.

I think the most important thing for your daughter is to choose somewhere where she thinks she'll be happy as you can't really go wrong with either of these unis.

I hope this has helped and if you or your daughter have any questions feel free to get in touch
