Qatar is anti straight man too. In Russia and Brazil you can easily get bunga bunga party, in Qatar not so much. I don't know what their problem is.

If Qatar were really anti-gay, then half the world cup wouldn't be able to happen anyway because half the players are defo gay. What do they expect them to do? Waste away for potentially a month there and not try to **** each other? You gotta be mad. Qatar in reality is very pro-gay because it is allowing all the gays into their borders and hosting a tournament for them. Unfortunately, Reece James could not go, how sad.

Is there an official World Cup song this time?

Reports that Qatari people have bribed eight Ecuadorean players to lose the opening game against them 1-0 for $7.4 million. I told you guys already that these people are the real deal. You don’t want to mess with them.

Which of you have made a World Cup fantasy football team ? My friend gave me a code to join a league but I haven’t made one yet. Too much time!

Haven't seen any mention of one. They might as well have stopped after Wavin' Flag, nothing is topping that.

(I know that wasn't the official one but it's the most memorable one).

Alcohol will not be sold at the World Cup's eight stadiums in Qatar after Fifa changed its policy two days before the start of the tournament.

I can see Budweiser demanding a lot of compensation for this, both in lost revenue and publicity.

The beer thing, out of all the ridiculous things around Qatar, is one thing that I wouldn’t have had a problem with them imposing if they hadn’t agreed to allow alcohol.

It’s essentially a dry country and people going to the country should be abiding by the laws, whether you believe they’re ridiculous or not.

Just generally I’ll be interested to see what the atmosphere is like and even if the stadiums are full.

You can pay people to fill the stadiums but you can't to generate atmosphere.

I dunno about laws, since its only poor peoples not allowed, the corporate & hosp boxes can still get all the booze served they like. Plus they've had over a decade to make their mind up about a booze associated event they asked/bribed for, and have now just changed their mind last min..

Nah I think they want to make a statement about how hairy and hetro they are, and they won't accept ay of these outrageous reasonable questions about dead slaves etc...

I’d like to see the travelling fans, in particular the England ones, try to break the rules and see what happens. Believe me these guys know that the Qataris are the real deals - they won’t be risking any punishment.

Remember what I said on here about a week ago. The Qatari people have a presence about them. I’m sure if we ever are in a room and they walk in, the room will fall silent and the legs will start to shake. They have an unspoken presence.

Dead tournament anyway. I have a lecture during the England game which is normally half empty because it’s optional as it isn’t a module just guidance, so I’m expecting it to be about 25% full on Monday.

Is the final at 20:00 in the UK ? I’n hoping for Portugal to win if not England so that Ronaldo lifts the trophy and retires.

Imagine the snow and the drinks england fans are bringing in. You'd be foolish to do that tbh.

I think despite the bad LGBT record they won't do anything obviously bad since they're being shown on the world stage but **** me the fans who bring in contraband UK government are gonna be cutting a lot of deals with these guys.

Yeah my stance on this is they can choose to have no alcohol as it's their land but don't decide this 2 days before the event starts, that's nothing short of ridiculous. Would sue if I was budweiser. Also gotta be an inquest on this entire event.

I don't have an issue with banning alcoholic drinks on stadiums (I support such moves if anything) but I agree that they should have implemented the ban sooner or not done implemented the ban.

Part of me feels like they had an intention to ban alcohol from the beginning but they chose to be strategical and wait for lots of ticket sales and publicity before pulling the trigger and banning alcoholic beverages but that's probably just me saying nonsense.

I just want France (ideally) or England win the world cup then I'll be happy.
I just want to see a new superstar emerge. Will be interesting to see who turns out as being truly world class under the highest pressure.

Better together (at the least inclusive and most divisive world cup ever)
England have very good players, but they don't have talismanic players that can win games with a moment of brilliance. The history of the tournament shows that unless you are extremely well organised and effective, you don't have a chance against the talisman led teams.

Southgate sets up the team the way he does because he knows this.

This team would be cut through like butter in a moment of CR7, Messi, Mbappe brilliance. Southgate knows this.
