    This is so random, and I'm sure there's a really simple answer, but anyway! :
    When tying a knot, what determines where the knot will form on the string/rope etc?

    I mean, when you pass one side of the string, for example, through the the other side of the string, on what point does the knot actually form..

    I think I get what you mean, but it does really depend on the ratio of the lengths on either side of where you tie a knot....
