I have a FIAT Panda Dynamic 1.2, coming up to its 3rd birthday so I'm gonna need an MOT.
Just wondering, considering the age of my car, what should I expect to pay IN TOTAL, and does anyone recommend any garages for MOT's?
Thank you xxx

I'm gonna say about £40. I've seen quite a few discounts to that price but could be more.

£50.35 is the RRP, some garages may do special offers.

Obviously if your car needs work, it will cost more.
Presumably it will need servicing again, which will cost more again. But the MOT test itself will be no more than £50.35.

£45.
If you you want an "MoT", then it's about £100.

What was the £45 figure for then?

Just wondering... as the MOT test itself should cost no more than £50.35. Obviously any repairs will be more, but a well maintained and serviced car shouldn't need anything at 3 years old.

That's what the garages near where I work charge, last time I checked anyway.
And £100 if you want to buy an MoT.
What you mean £100 to buy an MOT?

The current cost of an MOT test is £53.10 and as said above some garages do it at a cheaper rate. If you get any kind of servicing down at the same time it may well be £100.

£50.35

Otherwise, I agree with your post... the phrase 'buy an MOT' confused me too

Having said that, I'd expect servicing a car properly to be around the £100 mark, but make sure it is carried out fully. Some garages omit/forget certain service things such as oiling door hinges etc - only minor, I know. It still all counts

I asssumed "buy an MOT" meant giving a backhander to a dodgy tester such that he will issue a ticket for a defective car?

See above.
A lot of them wouldn't pass the car if there's serious problems, like faulty brakes.
But would give a bly to rust or something like that.
