Work experience

Hi guys. So I applied to GPs for work experience and one replied saying that they are happy for me to do it there but I need to go and see them. Why do you think that they want to see me??
Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.

Why on earth do you think that they wouldn’t?

they are looking to invite you into their world and do you a favour and want to make sure you both meet each others expectations.

very well done for getting this far. You are very lucky to have found somebody willing to help.
Hiya,
Remember that you are getting invited into a professional environment where sensitive and private matters are discussed. GPs, and other doctors too, are privy to some of the most important and private details of peoples' lives. In order to make sure that you are suitable for this, they will likely want to meet you and ensure that you understand topics like capacity and consent. Make sure to dress at least semi-formally and try to arrive slightly early to make a good impression. Sitting in with a GP is an invaluable work experience that a lot of students would love (and don't get!) to do- well done and good luck! Feel free to ask any more questions
