I have to debate this for my italian oral and I have to say i'm 100% against it. Why don't we try and deal properly with the real problems in society instead of resorting to this quick fix ??

Yes. Saves the tax payers money which would normally be spent to keep criminals alive in jail and acts as a powerful deterrent.

    Murder is wrong.
I agree. Therefore it should be punishable by death in my opinion.

Nope. Deterrence doesn't even work for supposedly execution-worthy offences, and the finality of killing someone needs a higher standard than reasonable doubt given how often the state has been proven wrong after a conviction.

You sound confused. Murder is wrong! Wait, no. It's a good thing. But wait, why is it good to murder...? Because murder is wrong. Oh I see. Logic failure.

Get to know the story of "Let Him Have It"; then you'll see why it was abolished.

(Sorry, but it's a sore point in Croydon's history. I feel so sorry for Derek Bentley's family whenever it comes up.)
