Dropped out of Uni, do i still have to pay student accommodation fees if i move out?

Hi, I'm a belfast Queens Uni student and am living in a Student Roost uni accommodation. I am planning to drop out but am nervous about the clauses of the contract that Student Roost has- will i still have to pay the rent for the rest of the year even if i drop out and move out?

If the clauses say you will have to. pay (and they usually do) then yes, you will have to pay. The only alternative is to find an eligible replacement to take up your remaining lease.

Hi Sofifa MG,
Apologies for taking a while to get back to you on this one. Our cancellation policy for this academic year states that if you voluntarily withdraw from university then you may be able to cancel. You would need to notify your property team and provide evidence that you have withdrawn from your university. You can check out the full policy here: https://bit.ly/3HBN5B1

Hope this helps.

Hello, I’m in a similar situation. My question is, how long am I allowed to stay in the accommodation after withdrawing from my course? My withdrawal is still in process and due to high prices I’ve already booked my flight for December, and I’m concerned that Student Roost might ask me to move out before then. Since I’ve already paid my accommodation fees, would they allow me to stay until December if I show them my flight tickets?

The rep you have tagged doesn't appear to have been active on the site for some time. You need to check your contract with Student Roost and their current policy regarding withdrawals. You should also speak to the manager of your hall - go to reception and ask to speak to them.
