How does UAL Level 3 qualifications grades work?

I have just completed my level three diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology, I achieved a Merit. I was just wondering how will I get graded for the extended diploma? Say if I was to get a distinction next year, would that mean my final grade is a distinction merit? Or distinction Merit Merit? I am really confused as to how they work. Apparently BTEC's are a 3 grade qualification so what is a UAL?

It is different than a BTEC. The UAL L3 Ext Dip gives you one overall grade for the two years; UCAS points(Pass/Merit/Distinction) - 72/120/168 which is equivalent to 3 A levels at A* for Dis, B for Merit and D for Pass.

Hello, I was wondering if you have any idea if the ucas points are set in stone. For example is it possible to receive a number between 120 and 168. I just completed this course post 16 in art and design. I receive my results on the 15th of August and am trying to have an understanding of what to expect.

Still a single grade but just worth more UCAS points. At the end of the second year. My son just got his grade 😭he got a M in the first year but ended up with a Pass😭😭 The teaching was subpar. High turnover of staff, lessons getting cancelled due to staff or staff being sick. The tutor told me that my son was the 3/4th brightest student on the course. Was pushing uni at my son. At the time my son refused. Students had to go in on days off to improve their work to a merit level. So dread to think how many students ended up failing. The course has been cancelled. So good luck on your course for next year.
