A* OCR science

I’m doing OCR for biology and chemistry, and after reading the OCR page it says that an A* is awarded for getting 90% across all units in A2. This is confusing as I don’t know what they mean by “unit”. Can anyone help by explaining?
i think by ‘unit’ they mean papers, when i did ocr bio i’m pretty sure they spoke about each paper as a unit, and to get an a* you do need to score quite highly - roughly 90%
