Irritable Bowel Syndrome(IBS) thread

Hi

This thread is all things to do with Irritable Bowel Syndrome(IBS). It is for people who have the condition, know someone who does or are just interested.

Treatment and prognosis of IBS are both variables as symptoms can vary significantly from person to person.

Symptoms include cramping, bloating and diarrhoea

You can find more info in the below links

If you think you may have it, it is best to speak to your GP please do not seek medical advice on this thread.

A surprising amount of people have IBS and different lifestyle changes can greatly improve someone's life so it'd be great to hear your stories.

Please be respectful of others and respect people's privacy.

All the best

This FODMAP diet is brutal, especially at Christmas time:cry:
My GP suggested food combining as a way of treating my IBS.

On his recommendation and advice, I bought the book 'The Harcombe Diet', ignored the first part and went straight to the eating plan. In less than 2 weeks I saw a massive improvement; even now, years on from that, with flare-ups I rarely get the severe pain of the early days and less frequent trips to the loo.
I think taking into account quality of life vs. Enjoyment of food

I’m gonna give up on this FODMAP diet.

I love food too much!
