Good unis for biology?

For now my list is Bristol, Reading, and York.
I was thinking about Warwick, Nottingham, Sheffield, and Bangor, but I don’t know which two to chose. I’d like a uni relatively close to London, maximum 3-4 hour train ride away, with a good reputation for biological research (especially in ecology), however not too aspirational grades, like ABB-BBB.

Hi there,

It's great to see you're interested in studying Biology / Ecology! At Aberystwyth we have a long list of courses in our Biosciences and Ecological Sciences subject areas, you can have a look here:

Biosciences: https://courses.aber.ac.uk/subjects/undergraduate#biosciences
Ecological Sciences: https://courses.aber.ac.uk/subjects/undergraduate#ecological-sciences

Our entry requirements for a lot of those subjects are around BBB. I'm aware Aberystwyth might be a little further from London than other Universities at around 5 hours train/car, however it really is a beautiful location!

There's also fantastic research going on in these department, you can find out more here:
https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/study-with-us/subjects/biology/#research
https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/study-with-us/subjects/ecological-sciences/#research

Please let me know if you have any questions at all or if you would like some further information, I would be happy to help!

Hey,

I am a current 4th year at the uni of Nottingham. I studied natural sciences and half of my modules were from biology.
I have left a link below to both the biology and environmental biology degree and they both seem like something that could interest you. I would recommend looking through the modules offered each year and at each uni to make sure for each year there are things you will be interested in.

In terms of location, Nottingham is a really well connected city. There are frequent trains to London and also coaches which take slightly longer but are really cheap.

I hope this helps and if you have any questions just let me know,
Emily
