I have an interview at Tesco for a checkout job on Friday. It's after school, so would it look odd if I turned up in my school uniform, or do I wear something else, and if so, what?

Wear your uniform skirt and shirt and sensible shoes, that way you look smart. I wore heels to mine and ended up lugging boxes around in them!

I turned up for mine in a suit. I think they thought that I was some sort of junior vice president or something :p:

Do you think shirt/tie/jumper/skirt/flats would be OK?

I really wouldn't go in your school unform, at least lose the tie, you want to look professional, not like a schoolgirl.

They do know I'm at sixth form though, so it's not like it's going to be a surprise. Just thought I might freeze in only a shirt and skirt.

School skirt is short straight navy blue with a white shirt. My school jumper is bright blue V neck so that's not great, but I do have a black round neck which might do I suppose and I could also lose the tie under that too?

Turning up in a suit for a supermarket job is just silly. Don't embarrass yourself.

I went in jeans, t-shirt and jacket. Got the job on the spot.

That sounds perfect to me if you give the tie a miss and wear black tights and shoes

I'll have black tights on already so that's OK. Flats or heels? Will the skirt be too short do you think?

Flats probably, as I said, I went to mine in nice navy heels and ended up lifting boxes of potatoes on a kick-step, scary!

Tesco should accept whatever you wear. Tesco rule like that.
Smart, but not too formal.
