I live in Manchester and have been offered Wales!!!?? I really don't understand

It is so bizarre ! I know we are so lucky and thank you so much to everyone being so supportive and excellent suggestions of inn scholarship- I am going to look into this.

This is my last try and in my mid-30s and having lived in London 12 years, it’s just so disheartening to think that (if I can get Inn funding) I will need to uproot, leave my home and be isolated from everyone and everything in my life currently - or be entirely unable to afford to make the move at this time in my life on that salary.

I know it is so annoying to hear but if today you were rejected please don’t lose hope, it’s taken me years of trying and I’ve met people at the Inn dinners who also took many tries. It’s to do with the sheer amount of people rather than ability - sending you all so much luck for next time. If you can grab paralegal roles in civil service. I think Covid inquiry are recruiting - I know it’s not ideal but it’s a good demo of public service for next time xx

I’m still waiting too, but I did speak to someone who used to run the legal trainee scheme recruitment and they said that due to the sheer volume of people they need to get back to, it may take days

Congratulations for getting the offer, I would recommend speaking to their recruitment team about changing locations before considering turning it down. It appears there was the same issue last year in last year’s thread. I’d be surprised if they’d be willing to lose a good candidate over it.

Thank you so much, this is great advice. I expect their inbox is overflowing so I will most likely not have a chance to discuss before the deadline

I know it is v early days but happy to speak with anyone who didn’t get good news and share feedback/app prep if it might be useful for next year. SR won’t let me send DMs yet but happy to discuss. I honestly think by the time you’re getting past video interview stage, you have the ability - it’s just a numbers game and luck of the draw. Not that it helps, but try not to let it dent your confidence

Has anyone just not heard anything yet? I don’t understand if that’s a positive or a negative or we’ve just been forgetten?

Has anyone heard from the CPS over the weekend or today?

No, I haven’t heard anything since the email on Friday - I had hoped we might hear fairly quickly as their email said “we are sure you will have questions” so to email, but if we can’t hear back before the acceptance deadline then it doesn’t really allow us to ask anything

My post was aimed at those of us who haven’t heard at all, but good to know they haven’t emailed you back over us

Ah I’m so sorry- I didn’t realise they hadn’t sent out responses at all to some. It’s worth checking the civil service portal if you haven’t already. But yes, I think they’re just struggling to get everything out at once as my portal hasn’t updated yet either

It’s now been a week since we were supposed to hear, is anyone in the same boat as me and hasn’t heard anything at all?

Reply 212

I was in the same boat as you last Friday. But I heard on Tuesday morning - have you tried to contact them?

I was going to contact them today - would you happen to have any contact details for them?

Try [email protected] but I think their response time is 3 working days. And so sorry to her that you are still in limbo. That must be torture.

I’ve just emailed that email address and got an auto-reply stating it will take 3 days for a response.

I think they’ve forgotten about me 🤷🏽*♀️

Or maybe no news is good news? Sorry it sounds a bit trite but I will be hoping that is it the case for you.

Just a quick one. I put Bristol as my first choice location but have been told i could be based in Exeter or Truro, not locations i would be willing to locate.
Does anyone know if there is some sort of discretion in location choice and whether they will enable you to change location if you have extenuating circumstances?

Hi there!
I have been on this rollercoaster for the last week 🫣😅 email the earlycareers email on the offer message you got and explain the situation (as soon as you can) - say that you aren’t rejecting the offer but want to know your options

Extenuating circumstances unfortunately don’t come into it as far as I have seen (but worth flagging them particularly if it relates to carer responsibilities or something similar). It’s all done on a merit basis, so those who score highest get their first option, and if they turn that down it gets offered to the next person in merit order, who wanted that location (this is how I understand it).

My first choice location was London which is obviously very popular - I got offered somewhere else entirely and have since been offered another location that is better suited (although not London)

Obviously I don’t know your circumstances so very sorry if this is an overstep, but just in case it helps- I was absolutely against the whole move, I gave it a bit of time, did some research on rightmove and of the area in general and slowly tried to weigh up the pros and cons - whether I could commute during the first six / whether it was an opportunity to live somewhere different just for the year. I took the decision to accept somewhere nearer to my ideal choice, but that would allow me to commute for a short time if the role allows, or at least able to visit everyone easily.

I also know someone who wanted Bristol and got Birmingham in the end. Happy to discuss more if you would like- I’ve spent all week stressing and researching
