No news. I received an email back from a lady I emailed previously who said they’re having trouble allocating supervisors. I’ve emailed again last week but nothing yet

Hi all,

If you are offered reserve list until a certain date (in this case September 2025), does anyone know if this means you have to reapply for next years intake if this is before September 2025? Or do they automatically take applicants on from the reserve list and then advertise for the remaining slots they need to fill?

Thanks!

going off what happened last year if you don't get offered a spot, you will have to reapply for the 2026 intake

Hi all, just to let you know I was just offered a spot off the reserve list so I guess until the last minute it might happen.

My civil service portal updated before I got the email. I’m so confused about being placed on reserve. It says I’m on a waiting list until September 2024 and they may appoint me if a position becomes available. I’m quite disappointed really.

Have you been contacted yet? I have also been put on reserve list until Dec 2025

Guys, is the legal trainee scheme for final year uni students or is there another pathway? Does the cps cover the cost of SQE training/exams/teaching? Asking for a friend- cheers

Hi, to apply for the solicitor pathway you must have completed your Law Practice Course or Solicitors Qualifying Exam 1 and 2 before October 2026. We don't offer funding for the required undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications. The full requirements are:

You must hold a minimum of a 2:2 university undergraduate degree. This doesn’t need to be in law, we consider equivalent undergraduate degrees.

If you have completed the Legal Practice Course and have an undergraduate degree at a minimum of a 2:2 in a subject other than law, you must have completed one of the following conversion courses:
Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL)
Common Professional Examination (CPE)

If you have opted for the Solicitor Qualifying Exams (SQE) route, a conversion course isn’t required.

We accept non-law degrees along with successful SQE 1 and 2 results, without the GLD or CPE.

You must have successfully completed, or be due to complete, the Law Practice Course or Solicitor Qualifying Exams 1 and 2 to be able to start the legal trainee scheme in October 2026.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
