Drop EPQ? Dental EPQ but medicine passion...

Hi so I started EPQ in September on covid-19's effect on dentistry and it is January now. I have wanted to be a dentist since Year 11 but recently I became more passionate for medicine and I don't know if I should drop EPQ since it won't really be helpful for medicine... and I doubt my EPQ teacher will let me change my topic this late since we will be starting to write our EPQ very soon (we have been doing research until now)

- I was thinking if I drop EPQ but do extensive research on my own, on something would that be a better idea (e.g. replace the time I use for EPQ with researching medical news/conditions and basically developing my knowledge that way, or if I'm not sure if there are entries for EPQ in October/November time
- or if I continue with this epq but involve medical aspects such as comparing dentists' impact from covid compared to doctors??

please help!!

If EPQ isn’t stressing you out or affecting other revision badly, I would carry it on. Seeming as you haven’t started writing yet I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to change the topic however if this is the case I would suggest slightly altering the title to perhaps include a more medical viewpoint which is what you’re allowed to do during the course of research and writing you can make changes to the title of the old one isn’t suitable. I am unsure what you mean by ‘extensive research’ as medical schools will not care for something that isn’t certified by an exam board. In my opinion I think you should carry on with the EPQ as there is no big reason here to drop it. Additionally it doesn’t really matter what the EPQ is about anyway as long as you realise what the point of it is (i.e develop time management skills etc that help you as a doctor by…) I think by changing your title to the one you’ve suggested at the end would be quite a good idea so consider doing that
