hey guys- this is some research i did into the accommodations at leeds if it's helpful for anyone looking at applying. I only looked at the self-catered option.

**Central village:**

- expensive- 166 per week (no shared bathroom option)
- 43 week contract
- 5 min walk from psych building
- nice common room
- modern building
- own bathroom
- one of the nicer places so probably rich pricks

**Cityside:**

- fave so far
- 10 min walk from psych building
- common room
- own bathroom
- expensive- 168 per week (no shared bathroom option)
- 43 week contract
- 10 minute walk from a Greene King pub
- one of the nicer places so probably rich pricks
- cool common room, pool table etc
- gym and laundry room on site
- close to everything
- only accommodation provider ive seen so far to be relying to students’ reviews
- close to shops etc
- apparently very strict security
- apparently this accommodation generally sells out the fastest

- own bathroom
- nice common room but bit cold, doesn’t seem that homely
- en suite very expensive- 172 per week (no option for shared bathroom)
- 39 week contract
- apparently very loud
- quite a party flat
- everyone has commented on the price
- close to everything

**Clarence dock village**

- not located on campus
- bigger wardrobe- smaller desk tho
- bit cheaper- 143 per week (no shared bathroom option)
- 42 week contract
- located on Leeds Dock
- 40 minute walk from psych building
- not very nice kitchen/living room
- no common room
- long way from campus- detatched from socs and other students
- warden is apparently very helpful and friendly
- safer area
- not too far from city centre

**devonshire hall self-catered:**

- student reviews say it’s far away from everything
- apparently near sketchy area
- not allowed noise past 11pm, appt they’re very strict on this
- generally seems to be not first choice for many people
- not on campus
- have formal balls which could be fun
- older accommodation, historic building which is scenic
- does not rank well on student website
- really nice common room
- could potentially do shared bathroom as some rooms have their own sink
- nice shared bathroom- wouldn’t mind sharing :smile:
- shared bathroom reasonably cheap- 109 to 146 per week
- en suite medium expensive- 149-158 per week
- 42 week contract
- only 20 minute walk to psych building

**henry price residence:**

- no common room
- on campus
- nice rooms
- not very sociable
- don’t have to share bathroom with that many people which is good
- apparently kitchen is pretty spacious
- not good for social activities as lack of common room and small kitchen
- shared bathroom cheaper- 131-144 per week
- 42 week contract
- literally a 1 min walk to psych building
- far down in student ranking
- pretty meh

**james baillie park**

- not on campus but near Headingely which is apparently v popular
- really nice common room, pool tables
- laundry room on site
- near shops
- shared bathroom option wouldnt be too bad
- its only 20 minute walk to psych building (although lots of reviews say the distance to campus is a real pain)
- shared bathroom cheaper - 130-145 per week
- en suite is 153-173 per week
- 42 week contract
- double bed:wink:
- much less strict security which is good for parties but means isn’t safest accommodation ad noisy all night
- lack of storage in kitchen
- very varying reviews but overall impression seems to be that it’s a very sociable place, but there is mould and maybe common room looks better in photos than it is in person
- added noe: many reviews from other accommodations say they wish they lived at JB

**leodis residence**

- very large residence block
- not as many facilities listed
- common room
- cheaper than most, en suite 155 per week (no shared bathroom option)
- 42 week contract
- nice kitchen, lots of sofas
- nice outside seating area
- only 15 min walk from psych building
- no one gets a hoover - cleanliness is appt quite an issue
- many reports of silverfish infestations
- located on a hill
- doesnt seem very ‘happening’

**lupton residences**

- no common room
- kitchen quite small/ probs not much room for socialising
- laundry room on site
- nice outside seating area
- not on campus but is in Headingley which is very popular student town
- because it’s shared bathroom, they are cleaned once a week
- actually reviews seem to suggest it’s quite a sociable block
- only reviews i’ve seen so far that say they’ve been mugged outside their accommodation, so maybe not the safest block
- reports of mould/mildew
- cheapest accommodation- 105 max per week (shared bathroom)
- 42 week contract
- very close to shops/ bars/ pubs etc
- 30 min walk to psych building but buses seem to be every 5 min
- with a bike tho it’d be 10 min trip :smile:
- it’s the cheapest accommodation so people “are most down to earth and genuine’
- seems to have the most glowing reviews
- is 13th on ranking table, and given it’s the cheapest that’s pretty impressive

- nice common room and living room
- kitchen looks good
- shared bathrooms look like nice quality
- cheap shared bathroom- 128 per week
- 42 week contract
- 10 minute walk from psych building
- ranked 15th by students
- apparently monty b has the best rooms
- washing machine in the kitchen!
- flats have up to 9 people in them so theyre very sociable
- very close town/pubs/bars etc
- has nice outside bbq seating area
- apparently lots of socials ie free pizza nights etc
- seems like a favourite and good value for money

**north hill court**

- smaller flats 3-5 people
- shops near by
- close to JB, so can use the JB common room for socialising
- only 18 flats so pretty intimate
- close to the city
- quieter than other blocks, tho this might be beneficial when partying has calmed down and am in exam season
- very cheap- 101-129 per week
- 42 week contract
- 25 min walk from psych building but, again, with bike that wouldn’t be an issue
- bedrooms seem renowned for being bigger
- much less reviews as much smaller block so maybe not accurate of real experience - tho TheStudentRoom seems to have very positive reviews too :smile:
- buses run regularly from down the road and only 1 pound per trip

**sentinel towers**

- nice rooms
- own bathroom
- 146-152 per week en suite
- 42 week contract

- apparently the most anti social of all accommodations
- only 15 min walk to psych building

Thankyou so much!! Really appreciate the time and effort you put into this post and you've helped narrow things down a bit. We went to view some accommodation on the accommodation open day yesterday but couldn't get to all of them. We didn't get to see MB but that seems exploring further. Really liked Cityside, Charles Morris ( self/catered block) and White Rose.

it's actually so insane, they were about £10-15 cheaper a few years ago from a video review i saw but in the last year they've just lept so much
