I think the pressing issue with the England team is to decide who the third fast bowler is, assuming Harmison and Hoggard are the first two. We then have to decide over Key or Butcher. I believe Strauss has secured the number two slot so that isn't a debate. But the keeper might be. Jones has done well and seized his chance and Chris Read got unlucky there, but he remains in contention I feel.

I'd agree with that. Personally I'd put in Butcher just because he's been consitently good for the last few years and has experience. I'll also remain happy with G Jones as wicky as long as he continues to score good runs and does a reasonably good job as a wicket keeper.

The true test is when England play South Africa later on in the year and Austraila in the Ashes.

We'll beat South Africa but fail miserably in the Ashes. It's always the way....

I'm not entirely convinced.

Ntini is one of the most effective strike bowlers in the modern game - and, for my reckoning, is much better than Harmison.

Kallis is world class, Graeme Smith averages 60 in Test.

The South Africans aren't a joke, unlike the embattled Windies of present.

I wonder how SA will do down in Sri lanka later this summer... will give an idea of how world class they are.

Ooh how about this, Giles up to the 10th best bowler in the world. http://www.http://cricketratings.pwc...ricket.htm.com
Although he isn't an outstanding world-class spinner on the pitches he's played on in England he's done very well.

Now I've had a bit more time to take it in, I have to say this is the worst thing that could ever have happened to the FA.

Mark Palios has dragged the FA up from the money wasting inefficient shambles Adam Crozier had turned it into and made it into an efficient and reputable organisation - god knows what will happen next - was he pushed, or was it voluntary?

And what next for Sven.....
