And they were missing Vieira and Campbell - the spine of the team. Not to metion having Pires on the bench......

A waste of money on a player overrated in his prime and now seems past his best (though i hope he proves me wrong). The treatment of Morientes by Real has always astonished me - one of the finest strikers in Europe but they treat him as if he was Carlton Palmer.

Verdict on the move : Gives Liverpool money and a decent player and Real have another 'galactico' to boost their image if not the team. Owen has a chance to get his career back on track. All parties Benefit.
Err hes 24 or something for gods sake, his 'prime' is a few years off yet.

i'm guessing he means that he appears to have peaked too early since hes nowhere near as good now as he used to be. with more and more players entering the league at younger ages their 'prime' is likely to be at a younger age anyway.

And they never rested any of their players in any of the other games that season?

And it wasn't that weak a side either, really only Henry was rested - they still had the likes of Vieira, Reyes, Bergkamp, Gilberto, Edu, Toure, Cole, all playing.

Yup, a 4:1 win without the spine is pretty impressive for us. True, we'll get stronger teams, but it's a brilliant start. And why no word on Reyes? I missed the game today, but the last game for him was brill. He's turning out to be a really good signing for us.

It went by the Greek Alphabet.
Yeah, but they both begin with the same word, so should be next to each other.

Maybe being with current liverpool might have contributed to him not being as good as he previously was. I feel sorry for Owen. I mean, look at all the injuries he has had, and all the criticism he has received. But when it comes to it, he has still managed to score a decent amount of goals each season.

Americans losing by 19 to Puerto Rico, whats going on? The P-Ricans were excellent but for the hot favourites the USA were poor.
