good goal, but why do so many people think its that good?
Because he started off with a brilliant bit of skill, then just ran round half the England team like it wasn't even there.

Ignorance? Maybe

At Sydney 2000, Italy were 7th in the medal rankings, ahead of the UK.
Furthermore, swimming, fencing, cycling, skiing, basketball, ... have been traditional italian strengths - sports in which Italy perform consistently well and obtain medals/ have the best athletes
couple of gold medals.....yer...."far behind"

i think the reason why brittish sport isnt up to scratch is because we dont encourage young people enough to get seriously envolved in sport. i think the fun of competing has been taken awayand filled with the brittish publics need for gold medals....

for a gd goal/entertainment factor, a good long shot is better than good running imo

if its that long you wouldnt run alot would you, eg beckhams goal  ooh - if becks what doing his defensive duties then run past all the forwards and the midfielders then do his shot on the mid-way line - thats reallly good

I didn't really like Becks goal. I prefer a 40 yard rocket myself.

There have been quite a few goals I have liked.

David Ginola vs Barnsley in the FA Cup. Ran past 5 players before calmly slotting the ball into the net.

Robbie Keane's penalty against Arsenal last season.

And then there's Jurgen Klinsmann's first goal for Spurs against Sheffield Wednesday - diving header at the far post, and then the great diving celebration.

Football-not too brilliant, but have potential.
Rugby-brilliant before, but have gone very down.
Athletics-retired and injured athletes have left us short. Some good athletes coming through. Give the development system time.
Tennis-future might be looking okay. We had Kasiri reaching the juniors final. Murray...
