Medicine related essay competitions

I already know about the medic mentor one but I wanted to see if there are any more that I could do
No 'competitions' will help you get a place for Medicine - Unis are not interested in them because they tell them nothing about you or your aptitude for Medicine.

I’m no admissions officer so correct me if I’m wrong but won’t the process of writing an essay for a medicine based essay competition demonstrate skills like research, fast learning etc? Yes it’s not going to guarantee a place in any medical school, but neither is any other super curricular. I think it’s a good way to show your interest in the subject, and learn more about things beyond the A level spec.

Quite a few of Cambridge’s colleges offer them like Newnham!

Everyone does them - so we just ignore them.

Is that in the PS and interviews? I’d have thought it would have at least counted as further reading.

My essay competition made up half of one of my interviews (won't say which uni in case that goes against a rule). They certainly don't make or break applications, but they're decent to have and really not something that takes a huge amount of time to do.

Thanks for the suggestion, i'll take a look at it. So is this something that I could directly reference in my personal statement?
