Do hornet watch what we're doing on the internet? I've got a mate who uses P2P programs, not that i condone that and nothing's happened to him. Also, if i was to say look at sites about drug use, would they see that and consider me as someone who might be a drug user and search my room? And are we allowed to look at controversial material such as pornography if it's legal? A lot of people i've met don't seem to know what the rules are.

I have had no reason to believe that they watch what you're doing.

p2p is not allowed and can be detected by them by the number of connections your computer has open, so that WILL get you disconnected. Odd that it's not happened, maybe they are all talk.

As for porn and any controversial material, use HideMyAss. It's a proxy website. Works fine for me.

I heard from a friend of mine that someone in his hall got disconnected for using torrents.
Anyway, I don't see how it is any of Hornet's business what I am doing online. This is one of the leading reasons why I want to go into private accomodation.

They are providing the internet therefore are liable (I think) if you are doing any copyright infringing downloading. Also you are eating connection for everyone else in the uni.
    And they will disconnect you.

Make sure to keep your internet security up to date, as if you get a virus or spyware they will disconnect you (this happened to me). I'm sure nobody is that stupid though.
