Hi im currently a second year psych undergrad student at Cardiff uni and I'd say that it was difficult to get in because I had to achieve A*AA at A level to guarantee a spot here. The difficult part was achieving those grades but other than that I had no experience in psychology or volunteer work. However, before applying please do have a look at the Cardiff uni website and have a look at the course structure. I'm at the end of my second year now and I'd say a third of the content we have learned has been pure science (mostly biology, some physics) and statistical maths. Everyone on my course has struggled with this because it is very hard content and I'd advise you only to apply if you are confident you will be able to handle this. You can see what kinds of things we learn about by going on Quizlet and searching cardiff uni psychology.

Hi there,

Amy from Cardiff Uni here!

As a recent BSc Psychology with Professional Placement graduate from Cardiff University, and also a current MSc Children's Psychological Disorders student, I can definitely signpost you toward some helpful resources!

When I applied to Cardiff during A-Levels, I was given a contextual offer of ABB due to the area I lived in at home- so Cardiff Uni are particularly good at taking contextual factors into account! As you can see on the 'Entry Requirements' tab on the Psychology page (https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/course/psychology-bsc), it states that the general A-Level requirements are A*AA-AAB, however "Extended/International Project Qualification: Applicants with grade A in the EPQ/IPQ will typically receive an offer one grade lower than the standard offer. Please note that any subject specific requirements must still be met. Our grade range covers our standard offer and contextual offer. We carefully consider the circumstances in which you've been studying (your contextual data) upon application. Eligible students will be given an offer that is lower than the standard offer (usually the middle or lower end of the advertised grade range)."

If you want to talk to a member of staff directly about admissions, you can contact them on: [email protected] , or alternatively give them a ring on: +44 (0)29 2087 9999

I hope I have helped in some way! Do you have any other questions regarding studying Psychology at University, or life in Cardiff? 🥰

Hi Amy,

I am really interested in applying for the MSc Children’s Psychological Disorders course and was wondering how you’ve found the course so far. Do you also have any advice for the application process?

Thank you!
