Basically everyone that got pre placement letters will be going to DfC for universal credit posts. DfC basically hijacked the whole recruitment process, and anyone that done well at interview is being punished by getting those posts. I have been advised by NICSHR resourcing that anyone that passed this tranche will also be getting placement letters sooner rather than later.

As a fully paid up member of the DfC escape committee (33 years) don't be under the impression that you will be able to leave or move office after a couple of years it won't happen. DfC make up their own rules and do their own thing capacity planning tool and partial retirement rules are just 2 of the most hated ones I can think of. As others have said think carefully about what you accept and try to make it work for you. I know in my own circumstances whatever is offered I will have to take it. There is also currently a redeployment exercise going on in the department due to the move to UC policy so wherever you end up there will always be someone else who doesn't want to be there too😜
Did HR mention the geographical breakdown? I'm west of the Bann and in the 70s region so unsure if I'll get a letter.

They are currently reviewing this too we have been told too many customers and getting away with not having to attend the office and there are not enough face to face appointments taking place. Currently we spend 3 days a week in the office so expect that to rise too

If it gets as far as I me and I get offered DfC (I’m currently DoF) I’ll be turning it down, way too many horror stories.

In the past I would of said don't be doing that but in the modern Civil Service where an AA can become a DP overnight I can understand why people do this now. As an existing EO2 the pay increase is only going to be about £2k a year for me but as someone who has 35 years of a Classic pension worked up every little helps when it comes to calculating a pension and lump sum on a final salary scheme😱 potentially I still have 10 years to retirement so who says another promotion is not possible in that time but I think I will take what's offered and if I don't like it then I can retire in 3 years instead😎

I'm eo2 as well, it's so frustrating that you put the work in and could end up being offered DfC. I'm not overly happy where I am, but I think it would beat being there!

I'm also hearing that the SO DP and EO2 lists are moving someone my wife knows got offered her DP post in Ballykelly she lives in Bangor and has kids of school age and as they are classified as a fully mobile grade with no regional area choice I bet she wishes she was offered a post in benefits ☹️
DfC is the most operational Dep there is, it is completely stat orientated. Duty of care is nil. Yes, there's a lot of horror stories or you may end up getting lucky. But I selected the Courts as it potentially will work for me only being 17 mile away and no 90 min each way drives to Belfast and it means getting out of DfC. Do what works for you. But as someone said earlier, DfC do put freezes in place if there is a 'business need' to hold you...

Yes, my local office, 3 miles from front door
Well done your local office has it's good and bad points but your job will be mostly back office it's not like being a work coach and having to deal with your neighbours 😱
Got my placement letter today. About a week after pre placement.
