Why is it important to properly dispose of technology?

Dispose of Technology
E-Waste Contains Toxic Substances that can harm the environment, they may also contain precious materials that can be used to create other things.

Electronic waste contains precious metals estimated at a 40 to 50 times richer value than the ores that are mined from the Earth. Unfortunately, when electronics are thrown away, the majority of these precious metals are lost. For example, it is estimated that only 10 15 percent of the gold found in e-waste is recovered for reuse, recycling, or resale. Properly disposing and recycling e-waste can increase the percentage of precious metals that are successfully recovered from outdated electronics. source: accessed 02.02.2023

Dispose of Technology

A lot of stuff used in modern technology is hard to come by (lithium for li-ion batteries, gold, etc) so I would assume properly disposing of it allows for some of that to be recycled.

On top of that, I don’t think anyone needs phone batteries leaking into the ground, or blowing up if crushed.

So basically, safety reasons
