Hi!

Thank you for considering to study your postgraduate course!

The department has an extensive range of equipment in our own specialist laboratories, together with the support of our dedicated technical staff. We’re transforming our science and engineering campus. Opening in 2023, our £115 million redevelopment provides a professional study environment with world-class facilities so you’re well prepared to experience life within a modern industry setting when you graduate.

You can view our virtual experience here: https://virtualexperience.mmu.ac.uk/ to take a look around our campus and facilities.

We’re an Academy for the Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), we deliver their partner programme which provides a pathway for students towards a rewarding, high-growth IT career.

Our AI researchers provide strong leadership in the region through the Greater Manchester AI Foundry. We collaborate across disciplines to innovate in intelligent healthcare, precision agriculture, smart energy, human motion analysis and sports, helping colleagues understand the ethical and social impact of AI to make responsible and effective decisions.

The advanced skills and understanding you’ll develop while studying our MSc Artificial Intelligence course can take you into a range of exciting roles in different industries. Being in Manchester puts the largest creative and digital technology sector outside the capital on our doorstep.

You’ll be ideally placed to apply for specialist jobs such as AI/machine learning software engineer and AI data specialist. There are many links to the field of data science for even broader opportunities. As AI spreads into wider sectors, you’ll find opportunities in areas such as medicine, transport, economics and more. There is also the opportunity to pursue academic research via MPhil or PhD positions.

Careers support is available from the moment you join us, throughout your time here, and for up to three years after the completion of your course. We have a range of services available through the Department of Computing and Mathematics and the University Careers Service including dedicated careers and employability advisors.

Hopefully, some current or previous students will get in touch and let you know their experiences!
