I've applied there too. I would imagine it's just a comprehension test and it will ask opinions and ask you to write a news story.

Hiya,
I got told by the newspaper I did work experience with that it's pretty hard. So I'm not sure.. I'm kind of scared though, sound very daunting! Are you applying for Journalism?
Hey,
John Moores ask potential applicants to do tasks, I'm nervous anout how competitive it all is.

Stop panicking everyone, you'll all be fine. They wouldn't give you an interview if they didn't think your PS was good. And the lecturers are lovely.

Sorry to start an old thread again but could someone please possibly give me more information on the interview and entrance examination? What's involved in the exam etc? Much appreciated, thank-you!

You have a general knowledge quiz, like what's been big in the media over the past year, and then you do another slightly longer exam which consists of just general Journalism skills like grammar, writing to deadlines etc etc..

Then if you pass (you'll find out on the day at DMU) you then go on to be interviewed.

Right, perfect thank-you! So it's not to challenging? Didn't want to apply not knowing fully what I was letting myself in for. Thanks for your help! How are you enjoying your Journalism course?

I just got a letter today saying I have an interview and admissions test for Nottingham Trent in February, I'm a bit unsure as to what it will be based on too! But at least I've been asked to one

Haha congrats!
I've been asked to one at brunel RIGHT after my exams so I have no idea how to prepare or what I need to know. D:
completely bricking it ahaha!
Good luck for yours
Don't worry about the admissions tests, they just want to see that you have a grasp on the English language. I had an admissions test at Nottingham Trent, and we had to write 250 words on why we wanted to become journalists, and then we had to assemble a press release into a story with a time and word limit. Everyone was absolutely terrified but the lecturers said they basically just want to see that you've got the passion for journalism, and that you've got some kind of raw talent.

Just think about why you want to study journalism/become a journalist and make sure you're up to date with the news and what's going on in the world, because you might have a general knowledge exam like CutiePie said.

Any questions about anything feel free to PM me

Cheers  Ooh well done, I nearly applied there but the area doesn't sound too nice! (No offence haha) Yeah pretty unfortunate timing, unlucky! Although i'm sure there's not much to prepare, we just have to prove our desire for journalism etc, so you'll be fine! Where else have you applied? Any offers/interviews? Rob x
