I just totally failed in the role play. I hate that we're judged on how good we are on a role play as opposed to our skills that are obvious from our work experience, written task etc. I totally froze and didn't know how to move things on at all in the role play and if it had been real life I know I would have done so much more. Pretty much all I did was empathise. I'm so cross with myself because I know I'm better than that. I thought the individual interview was ok but the interviewers were poker faced and gave nothing away and I'm not really sure about the group discussion. I'm dreading getting the rejection email - at least I hope it's an email, i will burst into tears on the phone if they call.

How did you guys find the assessment centre? People on the fb group seem to be very positive about it whereas I think mine went terribly. I am trying to consider my other options for qualifying, either through the OU but I would need my employer's support and I'm not sure I'd get it, or Frontline but it isn't yet known whether there will be a 2024 cohort. I'm gutted. I think I may have to think of a career change but I just don't know what else I'd do

Why do you feel it was terrible? You OK?

I explained above, it was just dreadful and I'm not really ok but I will have to pick myself up. Other people on the fb group are talking about how they enjoyed the assessment centre and I'm like 'what????'

But in the role play you empathising might be what they where looking for. My group task wasnt that great but ultimately we dont know what they are looking for and they also look at potential and everything not just one part.

Sorry, the thread didn't load properly so I couldn't see your reply. Hopefully, you have done enough and can come away from the whole process feeling better. It's very hard when you don't get much feedback on the day and you feel defeated. I'm sorry you feel that way, i cant really offer much else as I've yet to have my assessment day. X

Awwww try not to be too hard on yourself, I’ve seen on the fb group ppl have said that they take all parts into consideration and I’m sure they expect ppl to be nervous and have stronger points than others

what area are you from? I have mine on weds and if he lying if I didn’t say I worried and nervous

remeber you’ve got this far cause they think you have potential in other areas. It’s unlikely everyone is going to smash every part of this application process

chin up lovely you should be proud you got this far xxx

I don't think I need feedback, I already know I was terrible at the role play lol. Good luck with your assessment centre!

I'm Central Eastern. I'm just so aware of how competitive it is and that falling down significantly in one area is going to really hamper my chances. Best of luck to you for Weds, sorry if I have made you nervous - most people on the fb group seem to think it's a nice experience so I am the anomaly xxx

We were told by end of July we would find out. How did you find your day? I thought it was tough! I did my day this week for Gt Manchester. I didn’t feel like it went great so I am not to hopeful really :-/

It was tough, but don't be disheartened. What did you feel didn't go well? You may have suprised yourself and we don't know exactly what they are looking for, so don't be down about it. Good luck.

Thank you 😊 I just feel I have much more to offer than I displayed. There wasn’t anything in particular just that I didn’t do myself justice. Good luck to you too ☺️

Has anyone done the group activity yet who might be able to tell us what to expect? X

Hey  on your assessment day you have to sign a confidentiality form so you can't tell anyone without risking your place. All I will say is to just be yourself and that it was definitely worse in my head than what it really was like so if you're like me it won't be as scary as you are imagining!
