What are your reasons for doing a postgraduate degree? Are you doing it for: enjoy your subject? Further your knowledge on that particular subject? learn a different subject for a different career route? better job prospects?

The first two, and I thought the last one, but that isn't turning out to be the case!

If you don't mind me asking, what are you researching (as in which area within chemistry)? I've got to start thinking possible 4th year research projects soon (as I'm spending next year abroad) for my MChem, just wandering what you were researching and how difficult/interesting it it?

I'm doing Ultra-High Vacuum surface science, it's quite a specialised field and I'm not sure they do it anymore at UEA. It's fairly difficult to do any decent work within the timescale of a undergrad project.
