Returning to funded PhD after recent withdrawal

Hi,

I recently permanently withdrew from a funded (through the university) PhD program after roughly 5 months of study. I was struggling with mental health as a result of my living circumstances and could see no other way out.

I have recently begun to regret this, and think I should have perhaps sought a suspension in my studies, or at the very least had more discussions on my living circumstances.

Is anyone aware if it is possible to "convert" this withdrawal to a suspension instead?

Thank you

Best to discuss with your ex supervisor ASAP, it may well be that the funding has been re-allocated to another student or "lost" and given back to the funder already. It will also depend on how receptive your supervisor is to having you back, that now represents an extra risk for them as they are judged in part on PhD completion rates.
