Changing courses at UCL

Recently I have recieved an offer for mechanical engineering at ucl for 2009 entry and am quite confident i will get in. But supposing I dont have a real interest in the course or I am struggling, how easy would i be able to transfer to other courses, such as computer science, civiling engineering or even statistics, economics and finance.

I have always wanted to do engineering, but one of my physics teachers doesn't think I will be able to cope with it.

So I have a few questions about transfering.

Will it depend on what course i wish to transfer to?
Will it depend on what subjects I take for A2? (maths, physics, economics)
Will it depend on my A2 results? (im predicted AAA)
Will it depend on if the course if full?
Will I have to do ucas all over again?

you are thinking about this before you have even got in yet?!

form what ive heard, engineering is a very demanding course, and if im struggling, i want to know what my options are.

One thing I know for sure... you won't be able to transfer into maths... so don't think about that (if you were anyway lol!) It will depend entirely upon whether the subject is oversubscribed that year.

Best idea would be to email the admissions tutor, he will be able to tell you how likely it is.

Within my department -Archaeology- there was no problem switching between degrees, however switching outside of departments may be quite problematic, it will depend on many things, probably most importantly if the course you won't to go into is full.

I'm sure you could transfer as long as you do it within the first week or two before the coursework deadlines start going by.
Computer Science is severely undersubscribed (55-60 people in first year) so you could probably transfer if you wanted. A friend of mine transferred from Architecture to Computer Science during the 2nd week. I'm not too sure about Economics though, places are very competitive and will most likely be filled up.

to the op i currently am doing mechanical engineering at ucl and not to put you off but i am really finding it hard i am not the smartest person compared to other i only got AAB in a levels while there are some here that have grades which you would find in Oxbridge but you would be able to do it if you revise and work hard and yea once your in ucl i think you would be able to change it easily especially after January if you have the same grades as the the grades needed by the course that your changing to

Only **** departments accept transfers. Say hello to three years of 'Science & Tech' or something similar...
