Oh actually, they probably do because the next stage is a video interview.

Unfortunately I saw this post just now, I finished the cappfinity test a week ago and haven't heard anything yet besides receiving my report.

What happens at the video interview, do they send you questions in advance and what type of questions are they?

How long did it take after your cappfinity test to let you know that you got through?

Thanks for your help!

I only got an automated report too and people on Reddit are still discussing theirs so maybe the BBC are still going through the applications with the time of year and they might have got thousands.

I heard the BBC tell you the HireVue questions beforehand and there's a tool called "FireVue" to extract the questions from the page's source code but I've seen feedback saying HireVue have now fixed the security problem that made that possible. When I've done HireVue for other companies, it's just been standard interview questions like "tell me about when you worked in a team".

Thanks so much for sharing this reddit page! Helps a lot. I've heard for technical apprenticeships they sometimes only do written answers but others do video, some do video and written. Which apprenticeship are you applying for?

I've never done a hirevue assessment, so it will be all new to me.

L4 Data Analysis. I hope they stick to written answers and technical assessments. I've been to a data analysis assessment centre before where it was like a who-can-run-around-being-all-smarmy-in-a-room-full-of-people competition, which seems like an odd way to look for programmers.

🤣 Your comment made me giggle. I'm applying for the L6 Data Science Degree Apprenticeship! But i've seen bad reviews for the University that the BBC are using for the degree part. It's with BPP and the reviews are shocking. I'm concerned about the quality of the degree as graduates have had trouble getting a job after. But the BBC as an employer look great, i've only heard good things about the teams etc.

They use MMU for their L6 UX apprenticeship and MMU have got awards for the quality of their apprenticeships. I don't know why they wouldn't stick with them for data. L4's with Cambridge Spark who seems to mainly work with the BBC and NHS and local councils judging by the L3 I'm currently doing with them. They're good. I transferred there from a provider I won't name but it may rhyme with "molten knowledge" (BC) and it was astonishingly bad. In the three-hour lectures the lecturer would talk for 15-minutes, run out of steam, then you had to sit there and pretend to work for the rest of the time. He didn't even really say anything. He's just point at things on the slides and say "you're going to have to learn this, this and this". You had to demonstrate the KSBs by taking pictures of yourself doing the things at work.

Hey, it took two weeks for me to hear back about the video interview! I am yet to do the interview but will be doing it tonight 🙂 Best of luck!

Yes, they use different providers for different schemes, that provider you're talking about sounds like what students have said about BPP. MMU is good because it's a publicly owned university rather than a private one. They definitely are doing BPP for Data Science, how were you able to transfer, were you able to complain to your employer?

How did it go? Was it all video questions or some written? I know some questions have been strength based and checking your motivation so like, why did you want to join the BBC etc? Were your questions similar for your scheme?

It's a GIS mapping job which is so niche no one provides apprenticeships for it so they put it with L3 IT and I didn't have one bit of evidence of myself doing the KSBs at work (backing up a server or anything) but I'd done all the data ones. BC were supposed to start a data one but it kept not happening month after month until we ended up going elsewhere.

I just got an email saying I got into the assessment centre and face to face interview for software engineering. I'm nervous, I don't know what coding questions they expect 😅

Hey, I done the first online assessment and they got back to me about a month later saying i got through to the next stage. Its basically gonna be another online assessment, but with video responses. They said they'll send an invite for the assessment over in a few weeks so now I'm just waiting for that. how's yours going?

Hi there,
I did the BBC video interview previously so I might be able to help you. They sent me the questions in advance so I could prepare them. Have they done the same for you?
Also, I made a video on my experience of the video interview and rest of the application process - do you want me to send over the link? If you think it would help you, I'm happy to do so - just let me know.
Hi, please may i have the link? i have applied for the BBC data science degree apprenticeship and ive got my video interview coming up soon.
