Hi, I am a year 11 student and when I say I have learnt nothing in my 3 years of GCSE History education... I mean it. Don't know why it was even an option but I'm stuck with it and here I am now with about 12 days left till my exam with no nothing.
No revision
No notes
No websites for revision
...
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP!
-W
P.S - I do Elizabethan England, Conflict and Tension (Between East and West), Weimar Germany (Democracy and Dictatorship), Power and the People.

Hey!! I’d say youtube is a really good place to start then if you have nothing, literally just type in “AQA gcse history” and loads will come up, especially if you’re specific with the topic! Primrose Kitten on youtube has a lot of History stuff in structured videos, so you can go through and watch those and take notes while watching?

Also a bunch of playlists come up too, so it could be worth watching through them, aswell as revision videos, which are probably better to watch if you’ve only got 12 days to cover 3 years worth of content.

You’ll also have to revise what you’ve learnt too to actually remmeber for the exams, so what i would do is after i’d watched the video, say on Elizabethan England, i’d look at my notes for 5 minutes and then i’d put them away and just blurt and write down everything i remeber from those notes onto a whiteboard/a sheet of paper and once i’ve written everything i remember to back and add things i’ve missed in another colour looking at my notes so you can visually see what parts you need to work on. Exam questions would also be good, because it’s alright lesrning the content but you actually have to know how to apply it to the exam you’re doing in 12 days yknow? So make sure to practice those, they should just be past papers on the AQA website with mark schemes to mark them after

I hope that can be useful for you! (:

Hi!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to give me some advice. Blurting is certainly one of the methods that work for me in other subjects and I have not actually tried past papers. Will do now!

Thanks

I've added your conversation into the main exam thread just in case it helps others!

Best of luck peeps

does anyone have a link to a pdf or some sort of website which gives you a bunch of possible aqa history questions? Just think it'll be really useful for revision. Found one for germany but can't find one for conflict and tension in asia.

A couple of timelines videos (Cold war and the American West, respectively) just in case a question comes up that you may know, especially for the interpretations, at least you know the basis of what happens

I'm doing cold war and USA
My friend and I tried predicting the questions and based on our analysis, 1929-30s is a very common decade for question to be asked (especially about the depression and the new deal)

decades which came up for USA:
2021:
Source - 1920
4+5 - 1960s
6 - 1920

2020:
source - 1930s
4+5 - 1920s
6 - 1950s

2019:
source - 1920s
4+5 - 1950-60s
6 - 1930-40s

2018:
source - 1950-60s
4+5 -1929-1930s
6 -1920s

We predicted 2023 might be 1970s+1929-30s

Topics which came up for cold war:
Cold War
2021- Berlin Wall, Czech,Truman doctrine, development of Cold War as nato
2019- ussr and china friendship,Hungary, yalta and potsdam, tension Cuban missile crisis
2018- all Korean and Vietnamese war

possible topics on cold war:
- Space/arms race
- warsaw pact
- u2 plane crsis (not to be confused with Cuban missile crsis)
- Berlin blockade
- détente/thaw
- prague
- SALT 1

Well we were semi right huh
