It is definitely reassuring seeing others waiting multiple months for security clearances. Entering my ninth week now. Additionally seeing it discussed in parliament shows it is a well known issue. What I don't understand is why when emailing NSV they still regurgitate a 35-40 waiting time. I wish they gave a more accurate picture like when applying for a passport or personalised response. Hopefully they really do make inroads into backlog this summer rather than just talk a good game.

Frustrating isn't it? The fact that parliament are involved speaks volumes!
It's the only check I have left for the role I accepted 😅

It is pretty disheartening when you see for SC clearance that the waiting times are supposed to vary from 6 weeks - 12 weeks on all the official government guidance. It does help if you have a really engaged sponsor, I'm not entirely sure I'd still be waiting if my new line manager (and sponsor) were not so encouraging and are frustrated at the wait too. 19 weeks and counting!

That is insane to go beyond 3 months which should be the maximum time it takes for SC. 19 weeks that is getting into Developed Vetting (DV) timescales. I am getting tired at 10 weeks but you are beyond the pale I would contact NSV directly and ask what is going on. Surely only a file that has been lost, has major holes or significant time abroad, can take that long. I emailed NSV for the first time last week and the crazy thing is they warn the reply could be two weeks away, I mean seriously an email wait time of two weeks. Hopefully both our cases resolve soon.

19 weeks?! Is this solely for SC or does this include EIC? If it just for SC I would be following their complaints process!

I would if it were just an SC. I can't really elaborate more past it's probably counted as an eSC (I have additional checks on top of an SC). I don't deal directly with the National Security Vetting service the organisation I'm going to work for does on my behalf, I really don't know whether I'm stuck at pre-SC checks or SC and no one is allowed to tell me. I have complained just not directly to NSV and the best I've been told is to hold on and wait.

The only thing that might be holding things up is the fact I have close relatives abroad and the fact that I moved addresses a lot as my time as a student. Fingers crossed for any day now- rest assured I am probably one of those people that have a very specific number of factors with both the job I'm going into and the background that has made it pretty complex.

That's great news, congratulations! I'm very glad there are some applications that haven't gone over the 12 week guideline for SCs

That's great. Congrats!!! Feeling hopeful now. I'm also midway through my 9th week.
Hi, can anyone help me because I’m so confused😩 I’ve recently accepted a AO role with the home office, I’ve filled out the pre employment check on boarding form. What is next after this? Are there other forms I’ll need to fill in? Thank you

It may worth contacting your recruitment team. In the job advert it will normally say what level of clearance you will need to go through. If you need to do SC you will have separate form send via email normally to fill out after the initial on boarding forms.

Hi all,

Just a quick message to say I've finally had my status change to 'Completed' today sometime between 3pm and 4:30pm.
I completed my online form on 20/04/2023.
So it has been:
71 calendar days or
48 working days or
2 months and 10 days or
10 weeks and 1 day or
102,240 minutes or
1704 hours or
2 years (what it felt like)
Depending on how you want to look at it.

I'm guessing now I have to wait until I receive a PDF people keep talking about. Then my plan will be to email it to the vacancy holder instead of waiting for them to contact me. I've heard of people waiting too long even after their CTC has been completed/granted.

I've decided to just go ahead and send the vacancy holder an email to let them know of the SV application changing to completed, saying that on their website I'm instructed to contact my sponsor for further details . Let's see if it will help me or do nothing for my case hehe
