I've also applied for engineering. I did open applicantion and was assigned MEdwards, I havent heard anything yet . However, one of my friends also applied to Engineering (direct application to Trinity) and revieved an email today saying he won't get an interview there, they're counting on getting picked up in the pool. Were both International Students w IB if that helps.
Exact same situation as your friend, went direct application to Trinity since my grades were all A* predicted, good personal statement and great extra curriculars. Felt like I did decent in ENGAA but also reject pre interview ☹️, pretty sure it means we are not in the pool as those rejected after interview are.

This is correct.Only people who are interviewed can be placed into the winter pool. Those rejected now have come to the end of the process. But as we always say Cambridge has far too many applicants to places and many talented people do not make it to interview. There are many other fantastic unis where you will go and have the time of your lives.View as a redirection but allow yourself to be understandably disappointed knowing it will be something that will pass.
Could someone explain how the pooling system work? If the college you apply for doesn’t offer you an interview, is that the end of the line?
Hello - yes, unfortunately it is that case that if you do not get an interview then the process is over for you. In order to be pooled you must have been interviewed.
There are a few comments on here about applicants being eligible for "contextual offers." At Cambridge, as part of the process, the University considers additional information that provides a more complete picture of the educational and social circumstances that underpin students’ applications, academic performance, and performance in our assessments.*
However, it should be noted that the University does not use contextual data to systematically make conditional offers at lower grades, or to make allowances for a poor academic record. This information is simply intended to provide academic assessors with the fullest possible picture of an applicant, and the context in which their achievements occurred.
We had to sit the engaa in October, results come out next week on the 29th so honestly I'm not expecting anything (except a rejection) before then. What course are you applying for?
I'm applying classics- I have to do an assessment if selected for interview so I'm not sure of I should bother starting to prep for it if I don't know wether I have an interview or not yet
do you know the days of your interview yet? and the names of the interviewers?
yep, it's on the 7th so as a Scottish student I'm driving down the day before (6ish hour drive 😭) and I do know the interviewers names, though I can't remember off the top of my head haha. When's yours?
