GCSE results affecting your chances of getting into dental school?

Is it really the be all and end all if you dont get all above 6s in GCSEs? how much do average results affect your chances? (providing you excel at alevel)

you need at least 6 in maths and English with most requiring 7s, as well as strong sciences, however the others don't really matter as long as you apply strategically and score highly in the ucat

a lot of unis have requirements for eg 7s in science/maths - do check each unis with regards to what they exactly require for GCSEs. some dental schools do place a heavy emphasis on GCSEs for eg cardiff
