Hey hey,
Just thought I'd jump on and give my experiences.
I am now in my third year and currently living in town, but during my first year, I went for a standard room (shared bathroom) in Grizedale. I chose Grizedale as it wasn't too far from the center of campus, they offered standard rooms and even though I didn't live in a townhouse, they were so close by and easy to go and socialise at. For me, I knew I wanted a standard room as I really was not fussed about sharing a bathroom, and it saved me money. So that really narrowed down my college choices. Obviously sharing a bathroom is not for everyone, but every college offers ensuite (private bathroom) rooms so there is plenty available.
For me, choosing a college was mainly based on location and accommodation type, but I also looked at the Instagrams and social media of all the colleges to get a vibe for them. Saying that, all colleges offer roughly the same thing, and its worth remembering that just because you are in one college, does not mean you cannot use other college's facilities e.g. I probably spend more time in Fylde Bar as they are the sports bar.
Hope that helps someone,
Kat
