Do you think they give out accommodation on a first come first served basis? I mean you’ve put in your application pretty fast in that case so you’ve got a good chance

nah, not first come first served because the deadline isn’t until august 1st or something. they said they allocate places after results day so they know who’s coming for sure

I heard they do not do it on a first come first served, but one good thing about Lancaster is that you only put down like a couple of choices.
My youngest had to choose 8 accommodations for one university so for 3 of accommodations shes not fond of. So having less choices does work out to your advantage somewhat as you have a higher chance of getting something you like
No college really is like a favorite over other colleges. Some chose proximity to the dept depending on A) roll out of bed into class b) like a little walk but not for too long on a cold rainy day or C) loves a home away from home and wants to be the furthest college away.
Others go for standard as its cheaper, or the townhouses because of the social aspect of a living room, or love the ensuites because they really want their own privacy. Its such a nice mix that theres something there for everyone.
Hey hey,

Just thought I'd jump on and give my experiences.

I am now in my third year and currently living in town, but during my first year, I went for a standard room (shared bathroom) in Grizedale. I chose Grizedale as it wasn't too far from the center of campus, they offered standard rooms and even though I didn't live in a townhouse, they were so close by and easy to go and socialise at. For me, I knew I wanted a standard room as I really was not fussed about sharing a bathroom, and it saved me money. So that really narrowed down my college choices. Obviously sharing a bathroom is not for everyone, but every college offers ensuite (private bathroom) rooms so there is plenty available.

For me, choosing a college was mainly based on location and accommodation type, but I also looked at the Instagrams and social media of all the colleges to get a vibe for them. Saying that, all colleges offer roughly the same thing, and its worth remembering that just because you are in one college, does not mean you cannot use other college's facilities e.g. I probably spend more time in Fylde Bar as they are the sports bar.

Hope that helps someone,
Kat
Hi, I was just wondering what accomodation/college is closest to the gym/sports centre please? Need to fill out preferences today and that is a deciding factor for me. Thanks
I would say probably Bowland or County as they are North campus and you can walk straight down the hill, although most colleges have a path directly to the sports centre. This map can help you find where everything is in Lancaster.

Thanks, greatly appreciated
Hi, just a general enquiry but not sure if posted in the right part so feel free to move to different thread if necessary. So, I've selected Lancaster through clearing and have been accepted their end and had it confirmed in ucas this morning. I have since recieved an email from Lancaster with a login and password but no link or anything. I am still showing as 'limited access' if I try to enter details on the normal Lancaster student portal so am a little confused. I am trying to sort out accommodation and have no idea how to do this as yet. Any help please?

Hi Kat, I'm just wondering whether an official email is sent to direct you to book accommodation or do you just assume once you are sent login info you have access to find it yourself?

Anyone else having issues with accessing the accommodation portal? I cant seem to log-in because I keep getting an error letting me know that they can't find my student record (I did not apply through clearing; this is my firm)
Yes, exact same problem. Have you specified your preferences already?

I'll email accommodation, you should probably do the same. Im sure it's nothing serious, just a glitch or something. But, yeah, its nice to get it all over and done with right,? Ha

I had to set up a Friend Account password to get through to my accommodation page

When you get to the WebLogin page through the blue link in the letter click on
"Forgotten your password? then "Reset the password for my Friend Account (e.g. [email protected])" then change your password.

Then go back to the WebLogin page and put your user name as your email address and then the password that you created, and hopefully you can open your accommodation page.
